Retrospec
Probably the best site for quality remakes of retro games to be found on the net. Features modernised versions of 8-bit classics such as Cybernoid, Atic Atac, Chuckie Egg and Jet Set Willy to name but a small few. Essential browsing!
Retro 247 Games
Downloadable games with oldschool gameplay. Retro 247 features a good selection of retro-styled shareware and freeware games for both Windows and Mac.
Planet Freeplay
A cleanly-designed site with a wide selection of freeware games, some of which are playable online through your browser. Well worth a look.
Caiman
If you’re looking for freeware games, this is the site for you. Caiman features a regularly updated index of games across pretty much every category you could think of, and also has a family-friendly forum with a great atmosphere.
GameHippo
Another very big site dealing with freeware PC games of all sorts. They have a list of over a thousand games in many categories, and fortunately there is a search facility to help find the better offerings. Somewhat inactive lately but still highly recommended.
